Daily Schedule and School Calendar
Take a look below to explore a day in the life at our forest preschool! Our daily schedule is designed to spark curiosity, foster independence, and immerse children in hands-on learning through nature. From hikes to outdoor storytelling to creative play, every moment is an adventure waiting to unfold.
8:30AM - 9:00AM – Drop-Off at The Gathering Tree
Children meet their teachers at The Gathering Tree, located behind the Sanctuary House. On days with severe inclement weather, the day begins in our cozy yurt classroom.
9:05AM – Morning Meeting
We gather as a group to welcome the day, share stories, sing our good morning song, and center ourselves in community.
9:30AM – Morning Exploration Block
Our longest stretch of self-directed time includes rotating opportunities for nature play, emergent projects, animal interaction and feeding of the rescues, creative arts, and movement through the woods, fields, and sanctuary trails.
11:30AM – Lunch
12:30PM Rest: Rest time in the yurt
Children practice mindfulness and listen to a story, then relax or nap on cots.
2:30PM Clean Up & Snack:
Children eat snack and read a book together, then enjoy free play until pick-up.
3:30PM - 4:00PM Pick-Up: At The Gathering Tree
The Sanctuary Forest School is proud to offer a year-round, 12-month preschool program that supports consistent learning and connection with nature.
