Megan Scully

Lead Teacher

Megan grew up exploring the shores of the Jersey Shore, where her love for nature began—not with swimming in the ocean, but in discovering starfish, hermit crabs, jellyfish, and horseshoe crabs in the tide pools. Nature, for her, represented freedom: the freedom to climb trees, splash in puddles, and immerse herself in the wonder of the natural world. Her connection to all sentient beings has only deepened with time. Megan began working with children at a young age, and over the past twenty years, she has served in various roles supporting children with autism and other special needs. She eventually found her true calling in early childhood education, where the preschool years—filled with joy, curiosity, and rapid growth—captured her heart.

Now Lead Teacher of the Sanctuary Forest School, Megan brings a rich background in child development and inclusive education to an environment that blends the philosophies of Montessori, Reggio Emilia, and emergent curriculum. At the Sanctuary Forest School, children explore and learn in a setting rooted in kindness, compassion, and community—values that mirror the mission of Unity Farm Sanctuary. Megan feels deeply honored to teach at a school where children and animals coexist in harmony, and where every day offers the chance to learn from the forest, from rescued animals, and from one another.
