Each day families will gather at the Yurt by the goat paddock for drop off and pickup. From the yurt, children can immediately see Maxine Llama with her goats, the sheep, donkeys, and many different birds! Children can also see the other rescue animals here as they travel to Adventure Sites.
A Mitsubishi mini-split provides both heat and air conditioning, ensuring students have a safe environment that is comfortable for rest and shelter. A generator ensures continuous power in the even of any storm issues.
Cubbies in the yurt have space for the clothing shoes, snacks and lunch brought from home. The Sanctuary Forest School provides a cot for each child to rest on daily. Books, dress-up materials, building materials such as duplo and magnatiles, sensory tables, yoga mats, and extensive art supplies are available for students to use during play times. Students love to set up obstacle courses and imagination-expanding forts with the sensory stepping stones.
During weather conditions such as heavy winds, deep cold or high heat and humidity, and especially thunder and lightning storms, students are still able to attend school safely inside the yurt. We are dedicated to providing safe year-round education, and we remain open during difficult weather conditions.
